YYC Plants & Delivery hosted a sold-out Create A Bonsai workshop at The District at Beltline, right in the Food Hall and Lounge Building on 11 Avenue Southwest, and the room was full of energy from the very first minute.
Guests arrived a little unsure of what to expect and left two hours later with a finished bonsai tree, a handful of new skills, and in many cases, a few new friends.

Finding a Seat and Finding New Friends - Beginner Bonsai Workshop in Calgary
The night started the way most great workshops do, with strangers sitting down at shared tables not quite sure who they would be sitting next to.
Within minutes, that changed. Conversations sparked over shared plant pots, curiosity about the tools laid out on the table, and the simple fact that everyone was there for the same reason: to learn something new together.
By the time our instructor welcomed the group, tables that started quiet were already laughing and chatting like old friends. Every guest was given the chance to choose their own plant to train into a bonsai, selecting from a curated variety that included boxwood, olive tree, Portulacaria afra, also known as dwarf jade, and Schefflera arboricola, the dwarf umbrella tree.
